My Approach
This page offers a deeper look at how I think about and practice therapy.
Therapy is a collaborative process grounded in steadiness, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. My role is not to direct your life, but to help you understand it more clearly and respond to it with greater agency.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relational strain, identity questions, and periods of disorientation or loss.
Relational and Insight-Oriented
We look at patterns — how you relate to yourself, to others, and to stress. Together, we explore the beliefs, protective strategies, and internal narratives that shape your current experience.
Insight is important, but integration matters more. The goal is not analysis for its own sake, but change that carries into daily life.
Somatic and Nervous System Awareness
Psychological distress is not only cognitive; it lives in the body. When helpful, we attend to nervous system responses, physical cues, and stress patterns that influence mood and behavior.
This work is collaborative and paced carefully. We build capacity rather than push for intensity.
Trauma-Informed and Grounded
I practice from a trauma-informed lens, meaning:
Emotional and psychological safety come first
We move at a sustainable pace
We differentiate growth from overwhelm
Therapy is not about forcing breakthrough moments. It is about strengthening stability, resilience, and self-trust over time.
Structure and Accountability
Sessions are typically 50 minutes and may be short-term or longer-term depending on your goals. We periodically revisit what we are working toward and assess whether the process remains aligned.
Therapy works best when it is active, honest, and engaged. I will listen carefully and, when needed, offer direct reflection or challenge.
Meaning and Integration
For clients who wish to explore questions of identity, spirituality, or existential meaning, I hold space for those conversations within a psychological framework. My stance is contemplative but clinically grounded.
I do not provide spiritual direction, medical advice, or non-therapeutic services within counseling. My work remains within the scope of licensed professional counseling in Ohio.
Psychedelic Harm Reduction
and Integration
Some clients seek support in making sense of past psychedelic experiences or in preparing responsibly for future ones. Within the scope of licensed professional counseling, I offer harm reduction and integration support focused on psychological processing, emotional regulation, and meaning-making.
I do not provide, supply, recommend, or administer psychedelic substances, nor do I offer medical guidance. My role is to support mental health, safety, and integration within applicable laws and ethical standards.
